Navy vs. East Carolina Live Blog

We will be live blogging the Navy-ECU game from Annapolis, MD this afternoon where the Midshipmen will play their first ever conference game after being an Independent for 134 years.

6:56 PM - Navy wins their first-ever conference game against East Carolina by a score of 45-21.  The Mids are 2-0 on the season and the Pirates fall to 1-2.

6:52 PM - Navy elects not to try for another TD and takes a delay of game penalty and kicks a 25 yard FG by Austin Grebe.  Navy leads East Carolina 45-21 with 35 seconds left in the game.

6:48 PM - Tyler Goble picks off Blake Kemp's pass and returns it 32 yards to the ECU 10 yard line.  The INT is the first of his career.

6:42 PM - Navy now has 408 yards rushing on the afternoon.  Also, Keenan Reynolds has just set a new American Athletic Conference record with 5 rushing TDs in one game.

6:40 PM - Keenan Reynolds finds the end zone for the fifth time on a 17 yard TD run with 3:45 left in the game.  The score gives the Mids a 42-21 lead.  The Reynolds TD caps off an 11-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 6:35.

6:36 PM - Navy has a third and one on the ECU 17 yard line.  There is 4:25 remaining in the game and Navy holds a two TD lead.  Navy's Chris Swain has a career high 29 carries in today's game.

6:30 PM - Keenan Reynolds with a 26-yard run to the Navy 48.

6:25 PM - East Carolina caps off a 12-play, 93-yard drive with an 8 yard TD pass from Kemp to Bryce Williams.  The Pirate TD cuts Navy's lead to 35-21.  Kemp has 3 TD passes in the game, 2 to Williams

6:20 PM - ECU's Kemp completes a 20 yard pass to Isaiah Jones to the Navy 47.

6:19 PM - East Carolina starts at their own 7 after a block in the back on the kickoff.

6:15 PM - Reynolds now has 69 career TDs, good for fourth on the NCAA all-time TD list.  Today is his fourth 4 rushing TD game of his career. He is now three rushing TDs behind Ricky Williams (3rd on the all-time rushing TD list).

6:13 PM - Keenan Reynolds finds the end zone for the fourth time. Navy leads ECU, 35-14.

6:08 PM - At the end of the third quarter, Navy leads ECU 28-14. The Mids have the ball with a second down at the East Carolina 4 yard line.

6:06 PM - Will Anthony recovers a fumble forced by Amos Mason's first career sack. Navy has the ball on the ECU 17.

6:04 PM - Navy punts on fourth down at the ECU 42.  The punt goes in the end zone and East Carolina takes over with 55 seconds left in the third quarter.

6:03 PM - Keenan Reynolds fumbles and recovers.  Brings up a 3rd and 17 at the ECU 37.

6:01 PM - Navy's E.K. Binns is shaken up and is helped from the field.

5:59 PM - Chris Swain with a 7-yard carry for a Navy first down. Swain now has over 100 yards in the game.

5:57 PM - On a fourth and one on the ECU 49 yard line, the Mids draw the Pirate defense offside that gives Navy a first down at the ECU 44.

5:52 PM - Navy stops ECU on a fourth down play.  Will Anthony with the big tackle and stuffs Blake Kemp for no gain and the Mids take over on their own 41 yard line with 6:02 remaining in the third quarter.

5:46 PM - ECU converts on the 4th down play with a 2-yard run by Chris Hairston.

5:46 PM - Kwazell Bertrand with a nice defensive play to deflect a pass and prevent an ECU first down.  The Pirates face a 4th down and 1 on their own 48 yard line.  ECU calls a timeout with 7:20 remaining in the third quarter.

5:42 PM - The call is confirmed and East Carolina takes over on their own 22 yard line.

5:40 PM - Reynolds pass to Shawn White comes up short and Navy turns the ball over on downs at the ECU 26 yard line.  The play is currently under review.

5:36 PM - Reynolds nearly picked off bringing up a 4th down and 8 at the ECU 33 yard line.  The Mids call a timeout with 9:31 left in the third quarter.

5:35 PM - Navy methodically moving down the field.  Currently 3rd down and 8 on the ECU 33 yard line.

5:28 PM - Navy set to receive the second half kickoff.

5:06 PM - Navy takes a knee and goes into the half leading ECU, 28-14.

5:02 PM - Daniel Gonzalez from Navy was called for a targeting personal foul with 8 seconds remaining in the half and was been disqualified. ECU has the ball first and 10 on the Navy 17 and completes a 17 yard TD pass to cut Navy's lead to 28-14. Kemp completed the 17 yard to Bryce Williams. ECU's drive was 13-plays for 85 yards and took 2:08 off the clock.

4:52 PM - Chris Swain powers it into the end zone from 4 yards out giving Navy a 28-7 lead over visiting ECU with 2:11 left in the half. The Mids now have 284 yards of offense in the first half. Grebe is 4-4 on PATs in the game.

4:51 PM - ECU takes a timeout with Navy on the Pirates' four yard line and 2:14 remaining in the half.  Navy's drive started at their own 15 yard line.

4:38 PM - Navy forces an ECU punt.  The punt goes out of bounds at the Navy 15 yard line.  Navy leads 21-7 with 7:03 remaining in the first half.

4:36 PM - Navy SID, Scott Strasemeier just announced the this is Keenan Reynolds' 13th career 3-TD game, the most in NCAA history.

4:31 PM - Reynolds with a 2-yard TD run following a 16 yarder two plays earlier.  The Mids lead ECU 21-7 with 8:29 left in the second quarter. Reynolds now has 68 TDs, good for fifth on the all-time NCAA career TD list.

4:27 PM - Reynolds completes a 23-yard pass to DeBrandon Sanders to the ECU 47 yard line.

4:25 PM - Davis Plowman's 48 yard field goal attempt misses wide left and Navy takes over on their own 30 yard line.

4:22 PM - Kemp is sacked by Will Anthony for a loss of 9 yards bringing up a 4th and 13 at the Navy 30 yard line.

4:20 PM - ECU's Blake Kemp completes a 36-yard pass to Isaiah Jones to the Navy 27 yard line.

4:14 PM - Keenan Reynolds scored his second rushing TD of the game to give Navy a 14-7 lead with 14:56 remaining in the second quarter. The TD, his 67th all time ties him for sixth place in the all-time NCAA touchdown list. Navy's drive was 9-56, 2:49.

4:10 PM - The first quarter ends with the score tied, 7-7.  Navy has the ball with a second and goal on the ECU 1 yard line.  Four Navy players have 20 yards or more rushing in the first quarter.  ECU has 94 yards passing.

4:07 PM - DeBrandon Sanders takes a pitch from Reynolds off the right side and scampers 20 yards to the ECU 36.

4:03 PM - Dishan Romine returns the ECU kickoff 37 yards to give Navy a first and ten at the Navy 44 yard line.  There was a 5-yard offside penalty against the Pirates that was added to the end of the return.

3:59 PM - East Carolina capped off an 11-play, 75-yard drive with a two yard TD pass from Blake Kemp to Bryce Williams.  Davis Plowman kicked the PAT to tie the game, 7-7 with 2:45 remaining in the first quarter.

3:49 PM - Keenan Reynolds scores from one yard out and Grebe kicks the PAT to give Navy a 7-0 lead with 7:12 remaining the first quarter.  Navy's drive went 10 plays for 68 yards and took 4:30 off the clock.  The TD was Keenan Reynolds' 66th career rushing TD.  Navy's offense has now scored on 37 straight times when in the Red Zone - 32 TDs and 5 FGs.

3:47 PM - Romine with a 14 yard carry off the left side to the ECU 11.

3:45 PM - Dishan Romine picks up 23 yards on the right side off a pitch from Keenan Reynolds.  First down Navy at the ECU 34.

3:41 PM - Navy forces an incomplete pass and holds ECU on a 4th and 7 from the Navy 32 yard line.  Navy takes over with 11:42 remaining in the first quarter.

3:34 PM - Austin Grebe kicks off for Navy in their first game in a conference - the American Athletic Conference.
